Perhaps instead look for ways to store into and extract from a semantic 
triple store.

In the Qt world, the framework is Nepomuk, and e.g. calendaring 
vocabulary is NCAL: http://www.semanticdesktop.org/ontologies/ncal/

The corresponding (and to some extend interoperable) in the GTK+ world 
is Tracker and SCAL:
