Yes, that did the trick. You obviously can't run Bullseye on a v2.6 kernel
or Lenny on a v5.10 kernel...

So by using https://download.goldelico.com/letux-400/20110208-lenny400/bootstrapped-rootfs.tbz
I was able to boot the newly compiled v2.6 kernel to a screen/keyboard console login
(still no serial console but doesn't matter any more) and filter dmesg for the register values
at the end of jz_mmc_probe(). Result is attached.
Then, using a different SD card with Bullseye and the 5.10 kernel and the serial console I could
get the same register listing from the end of jz4740_mmc_probe(). Comparison shows some differences
we can now analyse.
Mainly here are bigger diffs in gpio, almost none in dmac (since it is not used) and some in msc:
10021008
1002102c
10021030
BTW: thank you very much for your memory map in our wiki! I took base address and
range from there to read out the gpio, msc, dmac sections. If anything else is
missing it is just a matter of minutes to repeat.
So I think I have now a tool setup to compare working and work-in-progress kernels.
BR and thanks,
Nikolaus
