Applause for the donor and for the developers!

Having donated in the past, I'll take the liberty of adding my view:

Success can be measured by the number of people buying a device.
Success can also be measured by the number of people actually using a
device.
Or by the number of hours of usage that the device gets in practice.
This latter number best measures the impact a device has on the world.

How many hours of usage do the existing GTA04s get in practice?

My "Android" phone gets a lot of hours, because it is both relatively
reliable (could be better, heh) and useful.
It is useful because it is so versatile.
It is versatile because there is so much great software for it,
most of it even Free Software.
There is so much great software for it because
there are so many developers developing for it.
(Yes, there was a chicken-and-egg-problem there, but Android is past
that. The chicken is already there.)

We want Apps. In theory, we can write them ourselves.
In practice, we can not write them *all* ourselves.
We need many Developers. Ecosystems compete.
More active ecosystems evolve better software faster.
Android is where most of those are who prefer open systems.
F-Droid repo alone has 1200+ open source apps.
There are probably hundreds if not thousands more open source
Android apps, just not in F-Droid (yet).

To maximize the success of GTA04 in the hours used department,
in addition to being stable and lasting as many hours as possible,
it needs to be able to run Android apps.

Cheers, Rainer
