My setup is
xset dpms 60 60 60
matchbox-window-manager
a vala-terminal with a script which gives some output. It basically does:
clear
echo something
sleep 1

I have enabled dynamic_debug in my kernel and did a
 echo file drivers/video/*  +p >control

to collect some information. dmesg did not show anything in that situation without that.
Restarting Xserver does not fix that problem.

480x640
root at gta04:~# cat /sys/class/drm/card0-Unknown-2/status 
connected
root at gta04:~# cat /sys/class/drm/card0-Unknown-2/enabled 
enabled

Same as in the working state.
Now I am waiting...
Your situation-awareness firmware recognizes that it cannot annoy me now by messing with the lcd now ;-)
