[Gta04-owner] SIP on Replicant 4.2 and other things

I was playing around with my GTA04 the other day and I remembered that
recent Android version (4.x) have an internal SIP framework that can be
configured and used through the Dialer application.
So I set this up with my ISP's voip account (which permits calling PSTN
numbers) and called another mobile phone with the GTA04. And everything
worked really well (the earpiece sound volume was too high at first, but
I changed the configuration to a decent level). The microphone quality
was really nice and things like in-call headset/headphones plug-in
worked flawlessly. That makes the GTA04 already usable as a phone with
Replicant!
Regarding the Replicant port, things stalled a bit in the past weeks, as
I've been working on other devices (P970, Samsung RIL) and I have even
more planned (Allwinner tablets port) before I get back to giving my
GTA04 some attention.
Regarding Wi-Fi, it is drawing the battery insanely fast and since it
blocks suspend, the phone only lasts a couple hours with Wi-Fi enabled.
Even when not connected or not transmitting any data, it draw a lot of
current. I read somewhere that power management is not properly enabled
in mainline for libertas_sdio (this seems specific to sdio).
Perhaps someone should look into it, or I will, when I have more time.
As for Bluetooth, I thought the only work left was fixing obex, A2DP and
SCO. It turns out that there is that, but also some serious
suspend/resume issues to fix. Basically, it seems to break down every
time the phone suspends and resumes. It might have to do with the chip,
the kernel or just the software implementation. That'll have to be
sorted out, as it is not very reliable currently. On the bright side of
things, I tested various kind of bluetooth hardware over the past month:
HFP (hands free) worked well, keyboards and mice as well and an A2DP/SCO
adapter paired and configured properly but didn't output any audio.
That's my GTA04-related activities report for July, I suppose.
Note that I attended the RMLL/LSM in Montpellier, France some weeks ago
and was thrilled to see people still using the Openmoko and being well
aware of the GTA04.
