Hi and thanks!
This mail was a nice first starting point and motivation kick to tackle
the GTA04/Replicant wifi issues. Getting the wifi to work via the
Android GUI is very troublesome, as there are a lot of different
versions of wpa_supplicant available, with a lot of different potential
driver backends and different types of sockets via which Android tries
to communicate with wpa_supplicant.

Furthermore, Android doesn't use the generic Linux WEXT commands to talk
to the driver, but introduces private, Android specific commands...
Luckily there is the "awext" driver backend, which provides a
"translation layer" between Android commands and WEXT commands.

Right now I'm at a point where the wifi is powered up at boot time and
scanning for networks works via the Android settings GUI. Connecting to
networks isn't fully working yet, but I did not yet debug the exact
problem. I guess it has something to do with the dhcpcd service, i.e.
obtaining the IP address from the router.

If you like to try out the latest improvements, you can compile an up to
date Replicant image for your GTA04 as described here:
  http://projects.goldelico.com/p/gta04-replicant/page/Replicant-4/

Test reports and help with debuging the remaining problems (especially
wifi and bluetooth) are highly welcome! :)

Cheers,
  Lukas
