[Gta04-owner] Use old gta02?

Hi,

after migration to gta04 I'd like to use my then spare gta02 without its
case  - it is a nice little piece of hardware including USB and maybe
some wireless interfaces, and has low power consumption; it might act as
something like a nano server.

The problems I expect to face are:

* Will it work without battery pack? Or how to simply but reliably
connect an old battery?

* How to manage upgrades or new installations without touch screen (and
I do not have a debug board)? There is no way to directly observe boot
problems, and, even worse, after installation the mobile phone images
might require interaction before starting sshd.

Is someone successfully using his old gta02 without case? Any
experiences or ideas?
