 From one thing comes another. As you say, it could lead to a larger 
community, thus larger volume, and so other components come within reach 
(because of minimum order quantities). Many requirements used stem from 
space/shape constraints inherited from GTA01/02 form factors.

As far as I understand, it is not the switch from A4 to A5 that costs 
extra money: the switch is already prepared in design and necessary to 
change end of life components. It is the production as such (especially 
one time start up costs per production run) that prohibit another 
production run :-(
