 echo 0 >/sys/devices/virtual/gpio/gpio186/value
 echo 1 >/sys/devices/virtual/gpio/gpio186/value
 sleep 1
 echo 0 >/sys/devices/virtual/gpio/gpio186/value

Should do the trick. You can check with lsusb if the modem has been
switched off.
