Maybe you need to make sure VHSMIC.OUT is generating current.
i.e. Set the HSMICBIAS_EN bit in MICBIAS_CTL

You should be able to do this with alsamixer by finding the control called

   Headset Mic Bias

and enabling that.
But maybe you already have and it is some other problem...
