[Gta04-owner] building kernel

Hi all,

I have a clone of Neil Brown's git repository and have been playing around compiling kernels using the instructions at http://projects.goldelico.com/p/gta04-kernel/page/Build/. Initially the build would crash with an embdebian gcc 4.4 bug so I switched over to the emdebian gcc 4.3 (via alternatives) (I am using Debian Squeeze) and all is well. I end up copying the uImage and a tar of the modules across to my Neo. Once there i copy the uImage to the fat partition and the /boot directory of the second partition (I also do a depmod -a <version>). When I reboot the phone, after the initial goldeco logo screen I end up with a blank screen with a small tux logo in the top left and no log output. Tyhe boot seems to go nowhere and when I connect the Neo using the USB cable to my PC, NetworkManager does not detect a USB ethernet device (no message to that effect in dmesg output either).


Can someone confirm which git branch I should be using for both the 3.2, 3.4 and the 3.5 kernels? I have done a git checkout remotes/origin/3.2-gta04 and git checkout remotes/origin/3.5-gta04 for the 2 builds I have done so far.


Also, which kernel config should I be using for each kernel (omap3_gta04_defconfig,gta04_debug_defconfig or gta04_defconfig etc)?
