[Gta04-owner] No Aux or U-Boot Menu?

I've been very busy recently and haven't had time to focus on getting my
GTA04 working - but I've now I've sat down and tried a few things. the
current situation:
- I have made an SD card to install QtMoko (done this a few times, on
different SD cards - manually and also using makeSD)
- ssh in to the GTA04, config touchscreen, upgrade. (this all appears to
work fine)
it's just the booting that is the problem.
booting from terminal or with just the power button/battery in gets me
the following behaviour on screen:
yellow, tux, LXDE (touchscreen does not seem to have configured
properly)
first hold AUX, then power/battery in, continue hold AUX:
red, white, tux, LXDE
first power/battery then hold AUX:
yellow, green, white, tux, LXDE
or, sometimes:
yellow, /Very-Brief-Flash-Of-AUX-M//enu/, green, white, tux, LXDE.
The U-Boot menu has never appeared, so I have never had the chance to
select boot from SD.
I haven't found any mention of this short flicker of the Aux
menuhappening in the emails so far, is it a common occurrence?
