well, there is a quite standard wpa_suppilcant in the replicant builds
(or should be, in the replicant 6 build it is missing, but I guess I
can push a fix this evening).

What I have done in the past: chroot into a debian system on another
partition,
that would be easier to deal with (different libc, etc.).
