Yes, the DTB that works comes from github raspberry kernel tree. The zImage is self-compiled and boots with the "wrong" DTS to login: and beyond.

So there is something wrong with compiling mainline DTB for bcm283x.

I have described the latest status of the analysis here:

It might have something to do with the undocumented -@ option of dtc (the command line dtc from Debian package doesn't even understand it).
Or there is something wrong in choosing the console device name (there are no aliases for serial0/1 in mainline DTS).
