If anyone wants to play around with this, I have uploaded the rootfs and
boot.scr:

Charging only works on request:
unplug and plug charger back in; then enable fast charging:

I can't remember if there was a bug in 4.16 responsible for this. If so,
was it fixed at some point?
It would be cool if the next debian kernel in buster would actually work
for us!
I don't know which kernel version will become teh standard for buster,
sadly. So we may have to keep an eye on this for later versions too :/
