Hi everyone,
It is time for a new status update!

After some hacking around u-boot, we can now launch grub2 and make use
of the standard grub.cfg integration within debian for boot kernel

well, the timeout can probably be increased.
Select things via aux button?
Virtual keyboard?
How does it work?

Looks like I forgot to mention what seemed most obvious only to
myself:
grub is only on the serial console. Because it is an EFI
application, it relies on whichever interfaces the firmware has
implemented. As far as I know U-Boot does not implement the display
interface, and I am not if anybody seriously considers doing so.

So for now grub menu is just a brick unless you are using the serial
console.
Distros can still decide to use extlinux.conf (interpreted by
u-boot), or their own boot-script.
