Thanks for all the help (and patience) so far - I had a flat battery
and the phone wasn't booting - Nikolaus suggested I try a Nokia BL5C
battery and that gave me enough power to erase the u-boot
environment and reboot.<br>
I installed the hw-validation system on an sd card, erased the boot
environment and installed the new boot system. it's alive! LXDE
boots again.<br>
<br>
I figured I should follow the rest of the instructions from
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://download.goldelico.com/gta04/20121030-GTA04-Production/">http://download.goldelico.com/gta04/20121030-GTA04-Production/</a>
before I try installing QtMoko again:<br>
<pre><i>...
10. insert into GTA04 and boot (LEDs will flicker and should finally show green)
11. connect USB (after boot is complete)
12. configure your host to get ssh access ('ssh <a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:root@192.168.0.202">root@192.168.0.202</a>')
13. run 'depmod -a'
14. run 'reboot'
15. make sure the GTA04 has outgoing connection to the Internet (i.e. configure
your USB-host as a router)
16. run 'apt-get update && apt-get upgrade'
17. run 'ts_sclibrate' for touchscreen calibration
18. run 'reboot'
</i>
</pre>
So I then tried to get ssh access, but I haven't been successful
yet.<br>
<br>
I edited etc/ssh/sshd_config to<br>
#ListenAddress ::<br>
#ListenAddress 192.168.0.202<br>
<br>
When I try accessing ssh (<a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:root@192.168.0.202">root@192.168.0.202</a>, Port 22) I get the
message 'connection timeout'<br>
<br>
Then I followed these instructions:<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/USB_Networking#Simple_Manual_Linux_Configuration">http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/USB_Networking#Simple_Manual_Linux_Configuration</a><br>
<br>
and I got this error message:<br>
<br>
sam@ubuntuSamoos:~$ ssh <a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:root@192.168.0.202">root@192.168.0.202</a><br>

<br>
I don't really know which information is most important to
understand the problem, so, um, here are a few options:<br>
