I think the main reason for this is the deferred probing mechanism introduced
between 3.7 and 3.12. Therefore drivers don't block others from being
initialized while the hardware is coming up.

ok, something we will have to look at.

I have not seen this in my tests, so we will have to wait for other reports.
Which OS are you using and is it related to some user space activity?

It was already discussed by Neil with the omapdss maintainers a while ago:

but as far as I can see not solved.
