Qemu is just too slow and blocking my work machine.

Just two comments from my side.

1st: You should care about gpsd before suspend. See:

2nd: You should still switch to QGpsdWeherabouts and gpsd-hooks if 
available, at least if
you're working with multiple GPS applications in parallel. I'm 
frequently using Navit next to
NeronGps. And with QNeoWhereabouts now closing one of them rfkills the 
other. Additionally
using hooks cares for Applications not using QWhereabout at all. I'm 
frequently using simple
scripts for logging.
