I am using the unstable uboot that can do ext4 now and run Mer off an ext4 partition. The git commit I am on is "e9ae988db93d522ddb9b615d09d95defdf785679"

Hm.
We have had the self-compiled 3.7 kernel running on two devices (e.g. the 7004 tablet) during FOSDEM over 2 days and not had any comparable crash. Since it is in "omap_hsmmc" it could be something with the SD card as well.
But 2 days is certainly not enough to say it is bug-free :)
