With 3.2 wget gives 100KByte/s, with 2.6.32 wget gives 200-600KByte/s.
But thats another story...

I get more. Graphics look fluent with 3.4, 3.2 and 2.6.32.

gta04:~# uname -a
Linux gta04 3.4.0-gta04+ #63 PREEMPT Mon May 28 08:42:14 CEST 2012
armv7l GNU/Linux

with the default config except the rootfs.

But what mplayer displays looks a bit crazy. The A:-Number is running
like hell, the V:-Number runs like 1 per second.
A:245075.0 V: 233.4 A-V:244841.578 ct: 23.339 5836/5836 63% 34% 5.2%
5776 0

I have a GTA04A4 with the DM37xx processor, is the 3.4 only fast with
that one?
