DFU was a GTA01/02 U-Boot extension that has not made its way into mainstram
or BeagleBoard U-Boot (at least until last time we did major U-Boot upgrades).
I think everyone did focus on Qi and nobody did care about upstreaming.
I usually boot from SD (or NAND if the kernel on SD is severely broken) and
can then read/write the kernel in /boot/uImage. So I rarely have to switch the SD.
And development of many drivers can be done in module mode, i.e. the system
remains bootable.
