[Gta04-owner] [Community] What software are we still missing on GTA04 distributions?

For all distributions: have reliable calls and SMS which in my opinion is the most important one if you really want to use the phone as your daily phone (and I happend to just own this one...)

Again first I want to thank all the developers (kernel up to main software) as without you and the courage of golden del there wouldn't be much left of the official idea of openmoko. So many thanks in advance!

- !!! have one stable version every so on !!!
- have emacs available so I can use org mode
- fix dates to be able to sync an ics calendar
- usable webbrowser (eve always crashes at some point)
- have elfe as standard

Make more of the whole screen size: The freerunner screen is already quite small compared to other smartphone screens which makes it difficult for finger navigation. The rims of the case make this even worse. So reducing the top bar
and maybe swap the bottom bar for something like a swipe towards the bottom corner would allow to use much more of the screen.

Have a topbar button to show all running apps and allow to choose to switch to one like in SHR (even better allow to kill other apps directly from this menu)

wifi setup like iliwi = search for networks -> click on one -> choose hex or txt and if it's preferred -> done
                        on next startup if it finds a preferred network it will automatically connect.
                        nice simple clean interface
wifi like the settings buttons on android home screen which one can add: you press the wifi button and if it finds a preferred network it will connect and the icon changes to show you that you're only (in comparison to iliwi there is no application runngin for wifi on a separate window)


have nerongps run in fullscreen.
as nerongps already checks if it can update the time at startup, make this "correct time" available to the system (nerongps has the right time, but if I close it the system is still on the wrong time)

make it even easier for less skilled people to participate (more svg based stuff like the keyboards)

allow the keyboards to be as pngs to have them act quicker than the svgs on the old GTA04 (Currently the keyboards lag quite a bit behind if one is typing a bit quicker).

have a similar file to the .desktop files to tell the app to use a landscape keyboard if it the screen is actually in landscape mode. portrait and landscape mode are best used with different numbers of rows, so it would be nice if the app just checks if the screen is in landscape mode and if so if there is a specific keyboard for this mode available.

allow multi keys in keyboards: some programs like org mode need some key combinations like "STRG-C a A" so it would be nice if one can assign this to a single key on the keybaord.
