I am getting something like this too. I want to wake up the phone with POWER 
button, but the screen remains dim. I wonder if the phone is awake at this 
point but only with brightness set to 0...

When i plug in charger it wakes up normally.

I wanted to debug this more (e.g. by mapping AUX button to blink with leds), 
but didnt have time yet.
