Ah no.

Either one can be connected (depending on the application).

Basically you can control the red cable's state by a GPIO.
And then you wire it up depending on what your connected device
should do with it.

The prewired cables connect to pin 9 (Ring Indicator) only.

Thanks for this hint. I don't know if it helps to solve
your problem but it will improve the documentation.
