<html><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;">Hi David,<div class=""><br class=""><blockquote type="cite" class="">Am 03.01.2017 um 11:28 schrieb David Heath <<a href="mailto:dheath.pr@gmail.com" class="">dheath.pr@gmail.com</a>>:<br class=""><br class="">Thank you. I have been wondering whether Qi would be possible. Can the receiver be placed inside the case or would there be problems? I assume it should not be exposed?<br class=""></blockquote><div class=""><br class=""></div>Well, it can be placed inside, above the µSD/SIM card if we leave off the Mini-USB plug</div><div class="">like shown in this photo:</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><img apple-inline="yes" id="E42F6DAF-A5B4-4BA8-8E90-87B99E41ABC0" height="480" width="640" apple-width="yes" apple-height="yes" src="cid:94C045FB-6D07-4ADC-BA92-0AA88D752578@Speedport_W_700V" class=""></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">But then it is difficult to connect it to the internal 5V power (although not</div><div class="">impossible - needs to fiddle two wires through the case). And the antenna wires</div><div class="">must somehow be connected/glued to the battery cover.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">This all makes it much more difficult to open and access SIM/µSD or open the whole</div><div class="">device for other mods. Not to forget that there is risk to rupture the cables.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Another thing to be considered is that the receiver chip might get warm and should</div><div class="">not be too close to the battery.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">So exposing it externally seems to be a good compromise for opening the GTA04. It</div><div class="">should only be sealed by some glue or a 3D printed "bump" so that it is not possible to</div><div class="">make a short circuit :)</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">What I have as an idea for a next generation version is to add an (optional) µUSB</div><div class="">socket so that it also can also be used as a Mini-to-Micro-USB adapter (there is</div><div class="">a currently unused power switch in the chip).</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">BR,</div><div class="">Nikolaus</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><blockquote type="cite" class=""><br class=""></blockquote><blockquote type="cite" class=""><br class=""><br class="">On 1 Jan 2017 6:00 am, <<a href="mailto:community-request@tinkerphones.org" class="">community-request@tinkerphones.org</a>> wrote:<br class="">Send Community mailing list submissions to<br class=""> community@tinkerphones.org<br class=""><br class="">To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit<br class=""> http://lists.goldelico.com/mailman/listinfo.cgi/community<br class="">or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to<br class=""> community-request@tinkerphones.org<br class=""><br class="">You can reach the person managing the list at<br class=""> community-owner@tinkerphones.org<br class=""><br class="">When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific<br class="">than "Re: Contents of Community digest..."<br class=""><br class=""><br class="">Today's Topics:<br class=""><br class=""> 1. latest Openmoko/GTA04 tinkering: wireless charger<br class=""> (H.
