Without µSD there are no console messages.

So there seems to be some non-console ready First Phase Loader (SPL) in ROM or Flash which initializes the screen and searches for U-Boot.

Next step I plan is to try to educate makesd to create a working µSD. Maybe in a first step by installing this Ubuntu Touch kernel and rootfs.
