Yes, there is good progress. If you can come to FOSDEM we might have something to demonstrate.
Not yet the new GTA04A5 case (that needs some fine tuning), but the 7004 tablet case - but using the same approach.
The "approach" is to generate Python files from the original CAD files for the PCB contour and all components.
These Python files can be parsed by FreeCAD and they create e.g. boxes, cylinders etc.
Another Python script looks up coordinates of components (e.g. display, buttons, holes) and create the shape
of the case so that it exactly fits because it calculates the coordinates.
Finally, everything is saved as STEP or STL and is ready to 3D print.
So we have tested that approach with the 7004 prototype and it can be used for all future variants.
