Well, that would save the cost of the UMTS module but add the cost of the separate GPS module. But it would still be less.

Right. The machine is less a problem. The most complex part is to get the different quantities managed and tell the people controlling the machine to switch every third board... Unfortunately it is not (yet?) like sending different print jobs to a printer spooler...
